What is

MBS Feldenkrais

The Mind Body Studies (MBS) Academy was founded in 1987 by Mia Segal and her daughter, Leora Gaster, to continue the work of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais.

Mia Segal (1934–2025) was Feldenkrais' closest assistent througout his career.

Mind Body Studies is the exploration of the connection between brain and behavior. Becoming aware of oneself through movement is the key to realizing our full human potential.

MBS academy's curriculum crystalizes decades of experience.

Exploration and curiosity has proven to be fundamental for this learning. To combine ATM (grouplesson) and FI (Hands-on) throughout the whole training has a deepening effect on the insight and skils requiered for this work.

Mia Segal – The Pioneer of MBS Feldenkrais

Moshe Feldenkrais + Mia Segal

Mia Segal was the first and closest assistant of Moshe Feldenkrais and played a key role in developing and spreading his method. Over several decades, she taught Feldenkrais worldwide, working with musicians, dancers, athletes, and people with physical challenges, and she shaped generations of practitioners.

With MBS Feldenkrais, she continued her work to make the method more accessible, effective, and applicable to various aspects of life. Her deep understanding of movement, learning, and human development lives on in this work.

With a deeper connection to your body – MBS Feldenkrais offers a gentle yet effective path to sustainable change.

The Principles of MBS Feldenkrais

  • Learning from differences – Noticing differences and comparing them is the easiest way for the brain to learn.

  • Distribution  – The more parts of you join your intention, the more wel-organised and light the movement gets.

  • Simplicity and ease - Simpel movements makes it easier to find the ease. Staying in the range of ease will make the ease spread more through the system.

  • Connection of Body & Mind – Movement influences thinking, perception, and emotional balance.

  • Applicability in Daily Life – The lessons help not only on the mat but also in work, sports, and everyday situations.
